Bismarck Henning CUSD 1 Superintendent Scott Watson is planning to retire effective June 30, 2028. The Board of Education is conducting a survey regarding a search for a new Superintendent. The selection of a new Superintendent is one of the most important decisions a Board of Education must make; therefore, the Board has hired the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) to assist in this process.

The Board requests that all board members, all staff, all parents and community members complete an online survey provided by the IASB. The results will be tallied and used by the Board as they consider the future leadership of Bismarck Henning CUSD 1. All survey responses and comments will remain anonymous.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the studentβs family and the communities of Chrisman and Georgetown-Ridge Farm during this incredibly difficult time.

π In Loving Memory of Mr. David Schroeder π
βAnd in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.β β The Beatles
The BH/BHRA family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. David Schroeder, who dedicated 16 years of his life to our school community before retiring in 2024.
Mr. Schroederβs commitment to his students was unmatched. His passion for music β especially his love for The Beatles β filled our halls and classrooms with joy, creativity, and inspiration. That love was contagious, and his students adored him for it.
More than a teacher, Dave was a mentor, a motivator, and a source of light for so many. His impact will continue to be felt in every note played, every song sung, and every student whose life he touched.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of learning from and knowing him. π
We would love for you to share your memories and pictures of Mr. Schroeder in the comments as we celebrate his life and legacy.
