Camp Invention 2024 was a success! 51 Campers ranging in age from incoming 1st-6th grades:
Explored design features and specialized materials to create a sports ball of their own
Experimented with inclined planes and gravitational pull to build a customized ball game
Got inducted into The Game of Fame for their innovative thinking and award-winning skills
Explored the science of light to create their own one-of-a-kind Glow Box
Investigated how light works in LEDs, fiber optics, UV, and glowing animals
Created and personalized their own Lab-on-Wheels
Studied hydro-related areas from flood control technology to water cleaning devices
Generated new ideas as they discovered the best place to invent (hint: wherever they choose is the best!)

They are known as the “Corpse Flower” for the smell they give off to attract insects that help pollinate them. Help us in congratulating our very own Mr. Watson! He received the IASA Superintendent of Distinction Award today in Springfield. Superintendents of Distinction are selected by their peers from their region based on leadership, communication, professionalism, and community involvement. We couldn't agree more and are so appreciative of Mr. Watson's dedication, loyalty, and exemplary leadership for our district.
Camp Invention is right around the corner (5/28-5/31)! Check out what your student will be doing at this amazing camp hosted at Bismarck Henning Junior High for any incoming 1st-6th graders in the area. Today we had our 2nd Annual 4th Grade Track Meet! Students participated in 7 events - 100 m dash, (low) hurdles, discus (frisbee throw), shot put (with a softball), long jump, student choice long distance race, and 4x100 meter relay. Once the rain went away it was an amazing day and students did great! A HUGE shout-out goes to staff, parents, and BHRA alumni and seniors for helping out! 💙
Bismarck Henning Elementary School was invited to Danville District 118's annual First Grade Math Challenge this year! We took three teams consisting of a total of 10 first graders to DHS this morning to compete in the challenge, along with three amazing BHRA students as helpers. All students earned a medal and proudly sported their new "Cool kids love math" shirts as they represented their school well at the challenge.

We spent today running in memory of legendary BHES principal, Laura Girton! Mileage Club and The Fun Run were some of her favorite BHES events and we are thankful our Parents Club helps us continue these traditions! It ended up being a beautiful day to run! 🏃🏼♀️ 🏃🏻 ☀️
