Today we will be taking time this afternoon to view the Solar Eclipse. We will head out to the blacktop around 1:40 this afternoon to begin watching the Moon pass in front of the Sun. The eclipse will be at its most total around 2:08 PM. Students will be wearing approved Solar Filter Glasses. We will also have pairs of Solar Filter Glasses available to any family and community members who wish to join us today.
Wednesday we have an early dismissal at 1:00 for Teacher Professional Development. If your student will have any changes to their dismissal routine, please send a note or call the office.

Did you know over 31 million people live in an area that will get to experience the total solar eclipse today? Unfortunately, we are not in the path of totality but will see over 98% of the Sun covered by the Moon. During an eclipse the Moon casts two kinds of shadows in the Sun. One, the penumbra, is more common and is seen even during partial eclipses. The other, the umbra, is rare and can only really been seen during a total eclipse.

Friday we will have our Grandparents Event. Each grade will be participate in activities during their specials time after visiting the classroom for about 10 minutes for a snack. Activities will then be in the gym with a photo opportunity in the library.
Friday will see the return of Mileage Club which will be held during afternoon recesses.

Did you know that on Tuesday March 19th we experienced the spring equinox? This is the time of year when our seasons change from winter to spring and we continue to transition into summer. On the equinox both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres get the same amount of sunlight. Brand-new confidence-boosting adventures are waiting this summer at Camp Invention®! Bismarck will host this innovative program from May 28th to May 31st. Students must currently be in kindergarten-5th grade but do not have to be a Bismarck student to attend.
