In the old Roman calendar, May was the third month of the year and like today is a spring month in the Northern Hemisphere. However, if you go to the Southern Hemisphere, May is a fall month so instead of plants growing they are starting to die before winter comes. May is the only month on the calendar that does not begin or end on the same day of the week as any other month. Emerald is the birthstone of May as it is a symbol for rebirth. Reminder! If your student will not be attending school for the day, please make sure you call the office and let us know. Please call us by 9am each day your student is absent. (A ClassDojo message is not enough since those sometimes go unread until later in the day). We all at BHES are so happy to see everyone come to school each day. Myself and all the teachers care about you all and want to make every day as awesome as we can. We're here to help you have fun, to learn, and to grow. We're here to help you be safe, be healthy, and be happy.

Last week on April 14th we had the privilege and honor of hosting our grandparents for Grandparents' Day at the elementary school. It was great to see so many children and adults get excited about spending time together and sharing their memories. Mrs. Foster did an amazing job organizing and running this event in the gym. Mr. Hibbets worked on students learning song to sing to their families. Mrs. Ross help prepare and distribute materials for students and their grandparents. Thank you everyone who was able to attend and make Grandparents' Day an special event.
