Kids had a blast with our Read Across America Day. We started our day with Mr. Abbed making a special appearance to read books to kids in the gym. We ended our day with retired educator and author, Dorene Strebing, sharing the steps she's taken to create her stories as well as sharing one of her books with students. Throughout the day students engaged with stories with their teachers, special guests, and online. Hopefully everyone created a list of books they'd like to read themselves from what they saw today.

Exciting news! BHES will be hosting a Grandparents Day on April 14! Each grade level will host their grandparents at an assigned time. Students will sing a few songs and make a craft with their grandparents. We will have a space for grandparents to wait between grandchildren if they are attending for multiple students. *If your student does not have a grandparent available, please let us know and we can find a staff member to fill in! At our most recent Fuzzy Friday teachers and students participated in some fun games. Student worked to stack cups in order as a class. Teachers tried to see how many cotton balls they could scoop up while blindfolded. Everyone had a blast as we took time to celebrate our character and achievements in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.

Check Out our Fuzzy Friday reward recipients for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. We have students who won prizes for the Lincoln Card contest. Warm Fuzzy winners for being examples of good character. Mrs. Miethe's class won the spirit stick. Mrs. Farrell's class won the Chow Hall Challenge. Colby is visiting Mrs. Powell's classroom because of their outstanding behavior around the school. There is the king, queen, bishop, knight, rook, and pawn. Each piece has their own movement pattern and capturing style. The pawn is the simplest and most numerous of all the chess pieces. They start in the front line and are usually the first to start getting captured. The move pretty slow as well because they go forward one space at a time unless it is their very first move. Companies say antibacterial soap does a better job but this has not been if you make sure take the right steps to wash your hands. When washing your hands besides using water you should of course use soap but also take at least 20 seconds and get all the parts of your hands and fingers. To help you get to 20 seconds you could practice saying the ABCs or sing Happy Birthday twice. You also have to dry your hands really well when you are done because germs can still spread in the dampness left behind. Reminder! If your student will not be attending school for the day, please make sure you call the office and let us know. Please call us by 9am each day your student is absent. You can work on becoming more trustworthy by making sure to keep your promise. If you make a promise and do not keep it, the next time you tell some one you promise they will have doubt if they can trust you or not. Online BHES Yearbook orders are open. We are started an Our Kids Heart Challenge event this week to help educate our students about a healthy lifestyle and to help raise donations to help make a difference.
