Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that ice is just another name for frozen water? Liquid water turns into ice once the temperature gets below 32 degrees fahrenheit. Ice has a couple of weird properties. When most other liquids freeze the frozen version usually takes up lesson space, but with ice it take up more space than when it was melted. Ice is also less dense than liquid water and that is why it floats in your glass. That seems pretty weird because you rarely see solid things float unless it is something like boat.
Reminder! If your student will not be attending school for the day, please make sure you call the office and let us know. Please call us by 9am each day your student is absent. (A ClassDojo message is not enough since those sometimes go unread until later in the day).
We all at BHES are so happy to see everyone come to school each day. Myself and all the teachers care about you all and want to make every day as awesome as we can. We're here to help you have fun, to learn, and to grow. We're here to help you be safe, be healthy, and be happy.

We'd love for you to join our BHES team for the 23/24 school year. Contact Mr. Sean Click to apply.

Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that Wisconsin was the 30th state of the United States? It became a state in 1848 but was originally explored by Europeans in 1634 while looking for a quick passage to China. The state gets its nickname, Badger State, not because there are a lot of badgers but because during an early mining boom, miners dug into mountains like badgers. Now Wisconsin is most famous for dairy products like milk and cheese. It ranks second in making milk and first in making cheese.

Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that there are six different kinds of pieces in the game of chess? There is the king, queen, bishop, knight, rook, and pawn. Each piece has their own movement pattern and capturing style. The pawn is the simplest and most numerous of all the chess pieces. They start in the front line and are usually the first to start getting captured. The move pretty slow as well because they go forward one space at a time unless it is their very first move. Their biggest strength is in numbers and if they get to the other side of the board they can change into any other chess piece.

Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that using regular handsoap is just at good as using antibacterial soap? Companies say antibacterial soap does a better job but this has not been if you make sure take the right steps to wash your hands. When washing your hands besides using water you should of course use soap but also take at least 20 seconds and get all the parts of your hands and fingers. To help you get to 20 seconds you could practice saying the ABCs or sing Happy Birthday twice. You also have to dry your hands really well when you are done because germs can still spread in the dampness left behind.

Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that it takes about 400 cocoa beans to make one pound? About 70% of the world’s supply of cocoa beans comes from Africa. Occasionally during the Revolutionary War, soldiers had to be paid with chocolate. Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that woodpeckers have a special bone in their head that keeps them from getting headaches? This bone is call the hyoid bone and it wraps around a woodpeckers head to act as a shock absorber for when they hit their beaks on a tree. When you see a woodpecker on a tree they are not trying to eat the wood, but are digging through the bark to get to insects that live inside the tree.

Good morning
We are so excited to start day 96
Today is Wednesday January 25th- Today is National Florida Day and National Opposite Day
BH CUSD #1 utilized an e-learning day today because of the snowy and hazardous weather conditions. Students should have information on how to engage in learning and be counted as in attendance for today in their take home folder, on ClassDojo, on Google Classroom if they have their Chromebooks, or any combination of these options. Please make sure to meet teacher’s learning expectations today in order for us to count our students as present. If you have any questions or need assistance teachers and myself will be available through ClassDojo and email during normal school hours. Thank you all for your support and please be safe if you have to travel today.
Our Character Counts pillar for January is Respect. A way to show respect is listen and be present. If someone else is speaking, make sure to listen carefully and think about what they are saying. If you respond to them make sure to take time to think about your opinion and either show your support if you agree or be courteous in explaining why
you disagree
We are starting a share box in the cafeteria for students to deposit any prepackaged food items that they did not open or eat instead of throwing them in the trash
Our parents club is always looking for more participation. If you are interesting in learning more about what they do or about joining, please check out the following link.Parent’s Club link(https://www.facebook.com/groups/1455037061388924)
Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that there is such a thing as a contranym? We know that synonyms are words that mean the same thing and antonyms are words that mean the opposite things. A contranym is a word that has multiple meanings that contradict each other or are opposites. For example, the word “left” can mean a person or thing that remains. “There are three people left in the office.” It can also mean a person or thing that no longer remains. “Everyone else left the office for the day.”
