Attention BHES Preschool Parents Mrs. Thorlton and the Bismarck-Henning Preschool for All Program are holding an open house on August 16th at 6:00. Come in and meet with your teacher, see the classroom, and learn about what school will look like this year. We are all getting excited about starting our new school year and can't wait to see you all!

Mark your calendars! On August 16th at 5:30 BHES will be holding Kindergarten Orientation. Also, at 6:00 on August 16th we will be having an Open House at BHES for grades 1-4. Come see your teachers and classrooms for the coming year. We are very excited to get the 2022-2023 school year started!

Good morning We are so excited to start day 173 Today is Wednesday May 25th-It is National Brown-bag It Day, National Tap Dance Day, and it’s Towel Day Lunch Today is hot dog on bun, nacho cheese doritos, apple slices, rice krispy treat, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that bubbles are made of three different layers? There are two layers of soap and one layer of water. Bubbles get their color from light reflecting between the different layers that a bubble has. A bubble always tries to form a sphere because of what is called surface tension pulling the liquid together. A bubble blown by you will travel higher on a colder day because the warm air from your breath will make it lighter than the surrounding air. Good morning We are so excited to start day 172 Today is Tuesday May 24th-It is Brother’s Day, National Scavenger Hunt Day, and National Wyoming Day This is the last week of school. Your teachers will be working to collect Chromebooks from you so make sure you bring them back with their chargers. Lunch Today is salisbury steak or chicken fried steak, french fries, dessert, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that reading for at least 6 minutes a day can reduce your stress levels? If kids have a home library of their own of at least 20 books, it could help the achieve 3 more years of school. If you read for 20 minutes a day, over a whole year you would read around 1,800,000 words. Kids who read at least 1,000,000 a year can end up in the top 2% for reading achievement. Kids in classrooms that have a library read 50% more than kids who are in classrooms without a library. We all at BHES are so happy to see everyone come to school each day. Good morning We are so excited to start day 171 Today is Monday May 23rd-It is National Lucky Penny Day and National Taffy Day This is the last week of school. Your teachers will be working to collect Chromebooks from you so make sure you bring them back with their chargers. Lunch Today is biscuits and gravy, potato shape, pear cup, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that salt water taffy was invented 1883 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Candymakers make this taffy using boiled sugar and butter. They then have to stretch and pull it until to becomes a chewy consistency and can be cut into the right size. At one time stores offered penny candy and taffy was one of those common candies people could get so cheaply. Some of the most popular flavors of taffy include banana, birthday cake, peppermint, cotton candy, licorice, and strawberry. We all at BHES are so happy to see everyone come to school each day. Good morning We are so excited to start day 170 Today is Friday May 20th-It is International Red Sneaker Day, National Be a Millionaire Day, National Pick Strawberries Day, National Rescue Dog Day, National Bike to Work Day, and National Endangered Species Day Today we are going to have the high school seniors who are graduating take a celebratory walk through our school around 12:50 while we cheer them on and celebrate their achievement. We will also have our last Fuzzy Friday of the year where we’ll celebrate our current fourth graders as they get ready to move onto the junior high. Lunch Today is chicken patty on bun, sweet corn, grapes, chocolate chip cookie, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that there area 2,700 different types of tropical fish in Minecraft? Other fish you can find in the wild in Minecraft are cod, salmon, and pufferfish. There are a large number of animals that can be found across the worlds of Minecraft with some of the most popular being pigs, axolotl, ocelot, cows, and chickens. You can’t tame all the animals but a player can tame cats, donkeys, llamas, horses, parrots, and wolves. Good morning We are so excited to start day 169 Today is Thursday May 19th-It is National Devil’s Food Cake Day and National May Ray Day Tomorrow we are going to have the high school seniors who are graduating take a celebratory walk through our school while we cheer them on and celebrate their achievement. We will also have our last Fuzzy Friday of the year where we’ll celebrate our current fourth graders as they get ready to move onto the junior high. Lunch Today is deli sub sandwich, baked lays, strawberries in a cup, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that watermelons are 92% water? Early explorers would use empty watermelons as canteens to carry their water. Although most of us only eat the red flesh of a watermelon you can eat the rind as well, even though it would be a bit tougher. The first time humans grew and harvested watermelons was over 5,000 years ago in Egypt. According to the Guinness Book of World Records the largest watermelon ever weighed over 350 pounds. Good morning We are so excited to start day 168 Today is Wednesday May 18th-It is National Cheese Souffle Day, National No DIrty DIshes Day, National Visit Your Relatives Day, and National Juice Slush Day This Friday we are going to have the highschool seniors who are graduating take a celebratory walk through our school while we cheer them on and celebrate their achievement. We will also have our last Fuzzy Friday of the year where we’ll celebrate our current fourth graders as they get ready to move onto the junior high. Lunch Today is BBQ pork on Bun, tater tots, watermelon, jello cup, and milk Menu link Today’s fun fact is: Did you know that the opossum is the only marsupial that lives in North America? Being a marsupial means they have a pouch like a kangaroo that their babies grow in. They live in forests, woodlands, and near rivers and farms. Opossums eat almost anything including fruit, nuts, insects, frogs, egss, and plants. When scared, opossums will hiss, burb, or even play dead. They also have a prehensile tail which means they can wrap it around branches like a monkey. We all at BHES are so happy to see everyone come to school each day.
